CELEBRATE 7 WORKS BY ARTISTS IN COMMUNITY
Wednesday September 21, 3-5pm
Sheldon M. Chumir Centre
1213 4 St SW, Calgary (MAP)
Join us to celebrate the installations of artworks by seven selected artists from the 2016 Artists Working in Community public art professional development course. As a part of the course, participating artists are asked to design a public art project that will address specific needs and concerns of a community organization while incorporating community members in a participatory way. The 2016 partner organization is the Sheldon M. Chumir Centre, Canada’s largest integrated community health centre with over 40 health care programs designed to meet the health needs of those who work, visit and live in Calgary’s inner city community. Seven artists were selected to create artwork within the street-level display windows of the centre that reflected the inner workings, and informed passersby of what may be found inside. Enjoy music and meet the artists while celebrating the amazing work they created in support of this important community partner.
