JAPANESE TEMARI
Saturday March 25, 10am-4pm
Sunday March 26, 10am-4pm
Alberta College of Art + Design
1407 14 Ave NW, Calgary (MAP)
"Temari balls are a folk art form that originated in China and made it way to Japan in the 7th century and has been treasured by both cultures for centuries; traditionally given as presents on New Year’s Day. The intricate designs that are created through wrapping brightly coloured thread around a ball form, symbolize friendship and loyalty and well wishes for a happy life."
Your instructor will discuss the history and show you, step by step how to create your very own Temaris. You choose your thread colour and patterns to make one of a kind art pieces. Many of your supplies are included in the fee, but please see the course supply list online for some items. Be sure to come prepared for the first class.
