HAPPENINGS 9 : Heritage and Canadian Dreams

We are now accepting submissions for engaging activities to participate in Happenings 9: Heritage and Canadian Dreams on Friday, August 18th from 6-9pm at Arts Commons. Submission Deadline: July 7th Happenings at Arts Commons in an art event unlike anything in Calgary! Held at Arts Commons, Happenings are free art parties and artist receptions where artists and audiences are able to engage with art in both meaningful and fun ways. These events celebrate the exhibiting visual and media artists, as well as featuring art activities, live performances, experimental panel discussions, film screenings, and more. Each Happenings is themed and no two are alike. Happenings # 9 theme is Canadian heritage, multiculturalism, identity and celebration. Arts Commons is seeking proposals for art activities, short workshops, live artistic demonstrations, performers, photo booth installations, and more. A successful art activity should be suitable for all ages and take no longer than 10 minutes per participant. If you are submitting an activity, ideally it would allow participants to customize their creations. Submission criteria 1) 500 word (max) proposal about what you would like to do at Happenings and how it connects to the current exhibitions. 2) List of technical support (what you would need to complete your art activity at Happenings) 3) Budget (how much will your supplies cost?) 4) Artist CV or resume 5) 5-8 Images (JPEG) Please email your submission to njensen@artscommons.ca Feel free to check out past Happenings for inspiration!
